NSW foster children placed with serial killer due to 'significant failures'
Foster Children Placed with Convicted Murderer
Two staff members in the New South Wales (NSW) Department of Communities and Justice have been suspended. This follows a review into why two foster children were placed in the home of convicted triple murderer Regina Arthurell. The 12- and 14-year-old foster children had been living with Arthurell until her removal from the home last month.
Department's 'Significant Failures' Uncovered
The review, made public on Wednesday, found "significant failures" by the NSW department. Despite warnings in December of last year that convicted triple murderer Regina Arthurell was residing in the home, the placement of foster children was not prevented. This incident has raised concerns about the vulnerabilities within the foster care system.
