AI Era: Youth Must Focus on Lifelong Learning and Skill Enhancement for Future Careers
AI Era: Shifting Career Models
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how young people learn, work, and the future landscape of careers. According to Professor Hoang Van Kiem, former head of Vietnam's IT professorship accreditation committee and an AI research expert, traditional career paths, once clear, are now significantly altered by AI. Repetitive and data-processing tasks are becoming automated, while new professions related to data, technology, innovation, and intelligent system management are emerging. This indicates that future careers will be a journey of continuous learning and adaptation.
Emphasizing Key Competencies for the Future
To prepare for these changes, students need not only specialized knowledge but also foundational abilities for lifelong learning. Professor Hoang Kiem emphasized that young people require proactive learning skills, critical thinking to analyze and verify the vast information generated by AI, and AI collaboration skills to utilize AI as a partner, ask appropriate questions, leverage data, and innovate. He further added that creativity, interdisciplinary thinking, and human qualities such as empathy, responsibility, and trust—encompassing emotional intelligence and professional ethics—will become increasingly important in an era of technological advancement.
