Yemen's Houthis Warn of 'Response Readiness' Over Strait of Hormuz Blockade
US Blockade Deemed Violation of International Law
Dr. Mohammed Taher Anam, an advisor to Yemen's Houthi Supreme Political Council, has characterized the blockade imposed by the United States on the Strait of Hormuz as a "crime and a violation of international law." He emphasized that such unilateral American actions must be met with "rejection and confrontation" to prevent the United States from setting a precedent for imposing blockades on other nations. Anam added that while Americans may believe they can impose a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, this is "very difficult."
Threat of Response If 'Red Lines' Are Crossed
Anam warned that the Houthis are prepared to utilize all their available cards if the Americans and Israelis "cross red lines." He stated that their "hands are on the trigger" and they are ready to use "any option at any time," whether in the Bab al-Mandab Strait or elsewhere, should the situation in Iran or Lebanon necessitate it. This statement suggests that the Houthis could undertake further military responses in strategic maritime locations if tensions escalate in the Middle East.
