AI-Based Smart Pig Farming Tech Automatically Detects Pregnancy
Smart Pig Farming Technology Rollout Intensifies
The on-site application of AI and robotics-based smart pig farming technology, jointly developed by the Rural Development Administration (RDA) and Mtreesen, is now intensifying. This technology primarily focuses on automatically determining the pregnancy status of sows and precisely managing their body condition. On the 14th, the National Institute of Animal Science, part of the RDA, visited Mtreesen's headquarters in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, to review the progress of their co-developed technologies and discuss expanding cooperation.
Technology Transfer and Farm Distribution Plans
The National Institute of Animal Science transferred its 'Automated Pig Pregnancy Detection Technology' in early 2024 and 'Automated Sow Precise Body Condition Management Technology' last year to Mtreesen. This year, the National Institute of Animal Science plans to select 55 pig farms; 10 will receive products utilizing the sow body condition management technology, and 45 will receive products for automated pig pregnancy detection. Jo Yong-min, the Director-General of the National Institute of Animal Science, stated that this technology is expected to significantly increase productivity for pig farmers.
