Record Highs for Postpartum Care Centers

According to the 'National Postpartum Care Center Status for H2 2025' recently released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, a special room at a postpartum care center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, recorded an astonishing KRW 50.4 million for a two-week stay, marking a new all-time high. This represents a 25.4% increase from the previous highest price of KRW 40.2 million in the first half of the year. The highest price for a general room at this center also reached KRW 17 million, highlighting a clear trend of escalating costs for postpartum care centers.

National Averages See Annual Increases

National average fees for postpartum care centers have also risen significantly over the past year. The average cost for a general room nationwide is KRW 3.72 million, an increase of KRW 170,000 (4.8%) from the previous year. For special rooms, the average price is KRW 5.2 million, having increased by KRW 230,000 (4.4%) over the same period. Notably, special room prices in Seoul, exceeding KRW 8 million, significantly surpass the national average, indicating a widening price disparity across regions.
