Fellow Lawmaker Criticized, 'Crossing the Line' Mentioned

Ping Lacson, Philippine Senate President Pro Tempore, stated in a recent interview that he would no longer tolerate the persistent criticisms from fellow lawmaker Rodante Marcoleta, declaring, “Enough is enough.” Senator Lacson claimed that Marcoleta has been targeting him with attacks and defamation, criticizing that “every time, he shoots himself in the foot.” He added that he has endured it for a long time but can no longer stand by.

Concerns Raised Regarding West Philippine Sea and National Security

Senator Lacson particularly pointed out that Marcoleta's statements concerning the West Philippine Sea strikingly align with the official stance of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expressed concern that such claims are extremely dangerous for national security and could further destabilize the Philippines, especially amidst the ongoing Iran war and tensions in the Pacific region. Furthermore, he questioned the credibility of information regarding the alleged 80.5 billion peso “maleta” (cash bag) delivery mentioned by Attorney Baligod, adding, “The timing of these claims, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of EDSA 1 Revolution and the confirmation of indictments by the International Criminal Court (ICC), raises suspicions about the intention behind them.”

Senator Lacson emphasized that while he doesn't initiate conflicts, if someone attacks and insults him, he will retaliate in kind. He criticized Marcoleta for obstructing investigations by providing insufficient and unreliable information, warning that such actions could plunge the nation into chaos.
