CPPCC National Committee's Fourth Session Concludes
The Fourth Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) concluded in Beijing on the 4th. Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, attended the meeting. The chairman of the meeting, in his closing speech, emphasized that the CPPCC must serve as a core driving force for national development. He stressed that the CPPCC should perform its duties and advance its work within the scope of the CPPCC regulations, ensuring that the work of the people's political consultative conference proceeds in the correct political direction.
The speaker urged the people's political consultative conference to better leverage its role in supporting national governance through its recommendations and advice. He emphasized the importance of pooling wisdom and strength to address the central tasks of the Party and the nation, making service and cooperation for the implementation of the '14th Five-Year Plan' the main axis of duty performance. This was presented as a goal that should permeate the CPPCC's various tasks, including political consultation, democratic oversight, and political participation. In particular, he called for focusing on major issues of economic and social development, deepening forward-looking research and strategic thinking, and offering valuable and substantial opinions and suggestions.
Goals of Unity and Building a Great Modern Socialist Country
The speaker stressed that the people's political consultative conference must adhere to activities for the people, propose many beneficial suggestions and policies for the public, and undertake many tasks that benefit the public. He added that the achievements of modernization should be promoted to benefit all citizens. He also stated that the people's political consultative conference should better play its role in enhancing cohesion, integrating ideological and political guidance into daily and continuous work, thereby building consensus, promoting unity, and pooling joint efforts.
He called for broadly gathering the enterprising spirit of overseas Chinese descendants to form a powerful positive energy for the new era. He urged all committee members and comrades to unite more closely around the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, to work together and strive continuously to comprehensively build a great modern socialist country, declaring the session closed. During the subsequent national anthem, all attendees stood and sang the national anthem together.
