Jeon Han-gil Reverses Decision to Leave People Power Party After Announcing Departure Over 'Yoon Again' Opposition
Jeon Han-gil Announces Party Departure Amid Opposition to 'Yoon Again'
After People Power Party (PPP) lawmakers, including Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk, expressed opposition to 'Yoon Again,' Jeon Han-gil reacted strongly by announcing his intention to leave the party. Jeon declared his departure from the PPP in a YouTube notice last night and stated he would submit his resignation to the party headquarters this morning (the 11th). Jeon Han-gil has consistently opposed any break with former President Yoon Suk-yeol, emphasizing that he cannot remain with the PPP if it maintains such a stance. It is reported that some within the PPP reacted to this news with a sentiment of 'good riddance.'
Reverses Departure After Intervention from Yoon Suk-yeol's Side
However, Jeon Han-gil reversed his decision just a few hours after announcing his departure. In an additional notice early this morning, he revealed that former President Yoon Suk-yeol's legal team strongly dissuaded him from leaving, leading him to cancel the submission of his resignation. Previously, Jeon Han-gil had stated he could not support Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk and even hinted at the possibility of forming a new party. Nevertheless, following the intervention from former President Yoon Suk-yeol's side, Jeon Han-gil is expected to remain with the PPP and continue advocating his original 'Yoon Again' position.
