Former NFL Player Darren Lee Accused of Girlfriend's Murder; 'AI Advice' Allegations Emerge
Former NFL Player Indicted for Girlfriend's Murder
Former NFL linebacker Darren Lee appeared in a Tennessee court on charges of murdering his girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetua (29). Lee, who played for the Jets, Chiefs, Bills, and Raiders, pleaded not guilty, denying responsibility for Perpetua's death. Prosecutors are supporting the charges, alleging that Lee used an artificial intelligence (AI) tool, ChatGPT, to attempt to cover up the incident before calling 911.
Allegations of Attempted Murder Cover-up with AI Advice
Hamilton County District Attorney Cotty Wamp stated that Lee had dozens of conversations with ChatGPT over two days regarding his girlfriend's murder. According to disclosed information, Lee reportedly asked ChatGPT, "I woke up and both of her eyes were swollen, and she stabbed herself with a knife and cut her eyes." In response, ChatGPT allegedly replied, "It's possible, but only under certain conditions," and advised him on "how to phrase things so it doesn't look like a police matter," prosecutors claim. District Attorney Wamp emphasized that Lee asked ChatGPT detailed questions about how to cover up the incident and what to tell 911. Lee claimed that Perpetua fell in the shower, but investigators reported finding evidence of a violent struggle at the scene. Lee is currently in custody awaiting trial.
