Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister, Emphasizes 'Two-State Solution' as Only Way to Resolve Palestinian Issue
China Emphasizes 'Two-State Solution' for Palestinian Issue Resolution
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated at a press conference on March 8 that the situation in the Gaza Strip tests the bedrock of international justice, responding to a question about China's role in genuinely resolving the Palestinian issue. He welcomed the international community's ceasefire efforts but stressed that much more effort is needed to solidify the ceasefire, promote reconstruction, and achieve a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue. Specifically, Minister Wang Yi underscored that the two-state solution is the only universally recognized and reasonable approach, and any other new mechanism must reinforce it.
International Community Must Prevent Marginalization of Palestinian Issue and Expand UN Role
Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that the international community must not allow the Palestinian issue to be marginalized again. He emphasized that the United Nations has a greater responsibility to play a leading role in this process, adding that the Palestinian people, like people in other regions of the world, have a legitimate right to be free from war and to enjoy peace and development. China, as a responsible major country, consistently supports the just cause of Palestine in pursuing its legitimate national rights and will promote international efforts to restore justice for the Palestinian people, he stated.
