US White House Expresses Concern Over Russia's Information Sharing with Iran

US President Donald Trump will express displeasure over Russia sharing information with Iran, White House spokesperson Caroline Livitt announced. Livitt stated that President Trump and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff sent a message to Russia hoping that information sharing would not occur. This comes in response to reports that Russia is supporting Iran during the war in West Asia.

Russia 'Silent' on US Warning; Trump Says 'Not Helpful'

The Washington Post reported last Friday that Russia had transmitted sensitive information to Tehran, including the locations of US naval vessels and aircraft. In response, President Trump has so far refrained from strong criticism, stating that President Vladimir Putin 'wants to be helpful' in West Asia. Conversely, Special Envoy Witkoff said that Russia's denial of information sharing should be trusted and that he strongly urged Russia not to share targeting information with Tehran. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to answer whether the US had warned about information sharing, stating that communication channels exist between the two countries on sensitive issues.

Experts Analyze Russia's Involvement as 'Strategic Disruption'

Collins Chong Yew Kit, an expert in diplomacy and security at Malaya University, analyzed that Russia is benefiting from its involvement in the conflict with Iran through rising energy prices, distracting Western attention from the Ukraine war, and deepening US involvement in West Asia. He views Russia as a 'strategic disruptor' indirectly aiding Iran, and assesses that Iran must rely on its missile and drone stockpiles to sustain a long-term war of attrition in West Asia. Chong Yew Kit added that Iran maintains enough power to impose a significant cost on the US and Israel, which could serve as a prelude to future de-escalation measures.
