Security Council Passes Resolution Condemning Iran
The United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution, proposed by member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemning 'Iran's regional aggression.' In a vote held on March 11, 2026 (local time), the resolution passed with 13 votes in favor, 0 against, and 2 abstentions. Mike Waltz, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, announced that the resolution was adopted as Resolution 2817.
Bahraini Ambassador Criticizes 'Iran's Unjustified Attacks'
Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, the Ambassador of Bahrain to the United Nations, emphasized that the adoption of this resolution confirms the Security Council's clear stance against attacks on their nations. He stated that it reflects the international community's shared recognition of the dangers posed by Iran's unjustified attacks and demonstrates the Security Council's commitment to maintaining international peace and security.
Ambassador Alrowaiei mentioned that over the past 12 days, various regional countries, including Bahrain, the GCC, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, have been targeted by missile attacks and drone attacks perpetrated by Iran. He added that such Iranian actions constitute a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, international law, and the principles of good neighborly relations, and are categorically rejected.
